Pooja for Austin City Council District 10
Throughout her career, Pooja has advocated and spoken out for others. She brings a voice of equity, innovative thinking, and passion to protect her community.
As an attorney, a small business owner, and a nonprofit founder fighting for survivors of abuse and assault and their children, Pooja makes sure that no group of people are ignored. She has worked fervently for the community for years. At the end of 2016, Pooja was selected to be on an Austin City Council Commission where she advocated for better transportation for Seniors, organized town halls to hear the issues community members faced, and pushed for increased safety for women and children.
Pooja grew up with the values that “hard work always pays off”, and she portrays these values every day as she advocates to represent the people and families of Austin.
For example, Pooja served on the City of Austin Office of Police Oversight Task Force, where she advocated for more transparency. She is a part of the City of Austin Steering Committee for Climate Change to maintain Austin’s park land, clean air, and carbon neutral initiatives for our city. She is a part of the Policy committee for the Greater Austin Asian Chamber of Commerce advocating for our local economy. Pooja is a Trustee appointed Austin Community College Regional Advisory Member elevating education opportunities in our city.
Pooja loves living in Great Hills with her husband, and son. When Pooja is not engaged in community service or work, she spends much of her time explaining to her son why a chocolate bar is not appropriate for breakfast. Pooja excels at being a bridge for all communities, and that is the way we move Austin forward.
